THEN YAHUSHUA said to the multitudes and to His disciples, the scribes and Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat of authority. So observe and practice all they tell you; but do not do what they do, for they preach, but do not practice.
They tie up heavy loads, hard to bear, and place them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves will not lift a finger to help bear them. They do all their works to be seen of men; for they make wide their phylacteries (small cases enclosing certain Scripture passages, worn during prayer on the left arm and forehead) and make long their fringes worn by all male Israelites, according to the command.
And they take pleasure in and thus love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues, and to be greeted with honor in the marketplaces and to have people call them rabbi.
But you are not to be called rabbi (teacher), for you have one Teacher and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone in the church on earth father, for you have one Father, Who is in heaven. And you must not be called masters (leaders), for you have one Master (Leader), the Messiah.
He who is greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself [with haughtiness and empty pride] shall be humbled (brought low), and whoever humbles himself, whoever has a modest opinion of himself and behaves accordingly shall be raised to honor.
Honest to goodness, dear reader, are you still with me? I never thought of my leaders not being humble. In fact, I have praised many of them for what it seems to me to be humility & goodness and all of that. But really, who are we kidding? Through the years, I recall the numerous leaders that have inspired me to follow their leadership. Wonderful understanding hearts whom later on quit me because of me questioning the things that are sacred to them.
Now Father has placed me among a different group of kind, good-hearted, happy and successful writers that are helping me to earn money with my writing skills. Again, I am fascinated with their generosity. I never thought to apply Matthew 23 to them until this very moment of time as I read again what Father quickened me to read and quote in this writing. Wow!
O my Father—O Father of mine? Now You are setting me not only to be clover with the coo-coo, coo-coo hammer but also to be shun and maybe ban from the company of such illustrious group but, You know what You are doing with this child of Yours. So, I’m going to tell how Matthew 23 applies to this group.
- They totally connect my emotional system with the dream to make up to millions of dollars with my writing if I follow their lead.
Ah! I never thought that to be a heavy load to load upon my emotional & intellectual systems. But now, I see it!
- Once they connect my emotions they head to my mind to connect it to invest money in their several programs so that I can make that kind of money.
O mine! Here again, I am baffled. Matthew 23 states: They tie up heavy loads, hard to bear, and place them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves will not lift a finger to help bear them. Wow! They load up that million dollars dream on me but, do not give one single dime towards the purchase of their highly priced products. And why should they?
